Green Lane Academy of Sacred Sciences (GLASS) is an entity within Green Lane Masjid (GLM) that has been setup to offer a great educational experience for those who desire to enhance their knowledge of Islam and the Arabic language.

Meet Our Team!

Qari Zakaullah Saleem

Shaykh Zakaullah is the Head Imam and Head of Education at the Masjid. After completing his Islamic Education, he worked in numerous roles before becoming the Imam of Green Lane Masjid in the UK. 


Teaches: Aqeedah, Qur'an, Alimiyyah

Ustadh Omar Taalbi

Ustadh Omar studied in Makkah for three years, and for two years at the College of Azhar. He has gained various Ijaaza In Quranic recitation and has been teaching Arabic and Quran for over 10 years. He has a Masters in Islamic Education from Warwick University.

Teaches: Qur'an, Arabic

Ustadh Ahmar Iqbal

Ustadh Ahmar studied Arabic in the Islamic University of Madina and Um al Qura University in Makkah, and has been teaching Arabic for over 20 years.
 He also has a master's degree in Arabic/English Translation from the University of Leeds.

Ustadh Maqsood Siddiqui

Maqsood Siddiqui was born in London,  but has traveled abroad in search of Islamic knowledge and studied with various scholars in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, obtaining ijaza’s in several books of hadith. He graduated with a Bachelors degree from the College of Shari'ah at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, KSA.


Teaches: Fiqh, Hadith, Tazkiyyah

Dr Ziyad Yehia

Dr Ziyad works as project manager at GLASS and has completed a PhD in Engineering from The University of Nottingham. 

He is a continual student of Islamic knowledge and enjoys sharing what he learns with others.

Ustadh Omar Dridj

Ustadh Omar Dridj started his journey of seeking the sacred sciences of Islam at the age of 20. He travelled to Mauritania - the land of the Huffadh - where he completed the memorisation of the Holy Quran in only 4 months. He then came to the UK and became an experienced Hifdh teacher since 2020.

Ustadha Abeir Diab

Ustadha Abeir is originally from Syria, and has two Ijazas in the Quran (2001, 2011), both with a chain of transmission connecting to the Prophet Muhammad (saw). She has been teaching Quran and Tajweed for children and Adults for many years, and studies courses in tajweed, Quran, Hadith, Uloom ul Quran, Fiqh, Tafsir, and Islamic History.

Ustadha Aqeela Naheed

Sister Aqeela is the Head of the sisters Tarbiyah Department and has been a volunteer at the masjid for over 16 years.
She is a part of the Islamwise team and had taught this course as well as others for many years. Dawah is her passion and her aim has always been to make the acquisition of knowledge easy and accessible for all sisters.

Ustadha Hamida Sahraoui

Sister Hamida has been a Quran teacher for the last 9 years. She has experience in teaching different levels of tajweed to adults and children, both onsite and online. She started as a student in Greenlane in 2011 and successfully completed Riwayatul Hafs an Asim with Ijaza, as well as Arabic to advanced level

Ustadha Khadijah Said

Ustadha Khadija is a graduate of mathematics and chemistry and works as an accountant. She is a former Tajweed student at GLM, having completed her studies in 2020 and is currently a Hifdh student with the Muddakir Programme. Khadija has been teaching Qur'an (reading) part-time for a number of years, but only recently joined the GLM team.

Ustadha Fareena Khadeeja

Ustadhah Umm Hamzah grew up in Saudi Arabia where she studied under senior scholars including Sheikh Salih Al-Fawzan. She has been teaching for the Sisters Tarbiyah Department for over 10 years. She currently resides in Dubai where she studies and teaches whatever she has acquired of knowledge.

Ustadha Safeena Khalid

Ustadha Safeena started studying Tajweed at Green Lane Masjid in Sept 2012. By Sept 2015, she was teaching her own Tajweed classes on the weekend in the masjid. In 2019, she completed her Ijaza in the Jazariyah programme under Ustadha Abeir at Green Lane Masjid.

Ustadha Saira Ahmed

Ustadha Saira has completed a 5-year course at Green Lane Masjid, ending with Al jazariyyah, and is a certified Tajweed Teacher. She has been teaching tajweed since 2020.
