The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) stated that "Cleanliness is half of Faith" (Muslim). In this comprehensive "Fiqh of Purification" course, we delve into the intricate principles and practices of purification in Islamic law.

You will explore the different types of water permitted for purification, gaining a thorough understanding of methods to cleanse both physical and spiritual impurities. Master the correct sequence and techniques for ablution, ritual bathing (ghusl), and Tayammum according to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).

By the End of this Course, you will be able to: 
  • Distinguish the different types of water in Islamic law, and which types can be used for purification.
  • Determine the different types of physical and spiritual impurity and their various methods of purification.
  • Identify and apply the correct sequence and method of performing ablution and ritual bathing (ghusl) and Tayammum according to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
  • Recognise the conditions that necessitate the performance of ablution and ritual bathing, as well as the factors that nullify them.
  • Explain the Islamic rulings related to general personal hygiene, such as etiquettes of the bathroom, regular bodily maintenance, and dealing with menses.
  • Explain extra rulings including those related to wiping over socks, using cooking utensils, and use of the miswak.

Sheikh Maqsood Siddiqui

Maqsood Siddiqui was born in London, England but lived most of his life in the United States, where he completed his primary, secondary, & university education. He has traveled abroad in search of Islamic knowledge and studied with various scholars in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, obtaining ijaza’s in several books of hadith. He graduated with a Bachelors degree from the College of Shari'ah at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, KSA.
